Rover P5 (3 Litre) and P5B (3.5 Litre) Parts and Services
The most useful specialist suppliers that I’ve used personally whilst working on my P5B and recommend.
Just to avoid any doubt, these are not paid-for adverts or placements. I have no relationship with these companies other than having been a paying customer and having been happy with the service I received.
J R WadhamsThe largest supplier of Rover P4, P5 and P6 parts worldwide.
“J R Wadhams Ltd was founded in 1989 by Jonathan Wadhams whose father was an engineer by trade but also used to race cars at Mallory Park in the 1950’s. At the same time Jonathan can still remember going for family trips in his Grandfather’s Rover P4…
J R Wadhams Ltd is now indisputably the world’s largest independent supplier and manufacturer of parts for the Classic Rovers P4, P5 and P6 models from 1949 to 1977. The company has an unparalleled range of spares for all three marques. Over the past 25 years, J R Wadhams Ltd has purchased stock from around the world to ensure the continuance of classic Rovers.”

“I am a classic car enthusiast specialising in the Rover P5 and P5b, having owned a number of these superb cars since the late 1970’s.
For the Rover P5 and P5b enthusiast, I can offer a range of new, refurbished and reconditioned Rover parts for your classic car. Occasionally I have restored cars to sell. My ultimate aim is to keep beautiful vintage cars like the classic Rover on the road for many years to come.”
AutoSparksClassic British Quality Wiring Harnesses and Components. Autosparks can provide most wiring-related things your Rover P5 and P5B needs, from a complete wiring loom to obscure-sized connectors and grommets. They also supply period-correct cloth-insulated cable in the correct colours. If you’re working on the wiring of your car, this is an invaluable supplier. The quality of their products is excellent.
“The origins of Autosparks date back to around the 1920’s when it’s founder, Mr Henry Colomb, formed an electrical business in Beverley Road, Hull. Under the ownership of Henry and the management of Mr Cliff Dalton, Autosparks Ltd flourished and by the 1980’s was a well established and well respected company. With Mr Colomb, then retired, living in Malta, and Mr Dalton reaching retirement age, the running of the company was left to a younger family member and with growing competition, the company finally collapsed in August 1991.
Meanwhile I began my business, R D Components, in November 1977, initially manufacturing and selling spares for the legendary BSA Gold Star motorcycle…In 1991 we bought and moved Autosparks down to our base in Sandiacre, Nottingham.
Over half of the 30 plus workforce that are with me today were around at the time of the takeover offering an unrivalled wealth of knowledge and expertise to ensure that the quality of everything we produce remains very high.
Today Autosparks produces a range of Harnesses for classic Motorcycles, Cars, Tractors and Commercial Vehicles as well as supplying original equipment Harnesses to smaller volume manufacturers including such diverse applications as some of the top British Sportscars, European Road Sweepers and a range of Emergency Vehicles.”
Red TriangleThe Home of Alvis Cars. After Rover’s purchase of Alvis in the 1960’s, it’s wonderful that Alvis cars have such a great parts supplier. I’ve used the company to source some hard-to-find New Old Stock components such as the P5 and P5B Lucas floor headlamp dip switch, which was used on Alvis vehicles (and many other British cars).
“Founded by the ex-employees, with the help and support of the Alvis Company, Red Triangle started business in June 1968 providing parts and service for the cars in everyday use at that time. The Alvis Company passed everything to Red Triangle – the complete stock of ALVIS PARTS, all 22,000 Car Records, one for every car Alvis produced and over 14,000 works drawings, correspondence files and data sheets – in fact everything to do with Alvis cars from 1920 to 1967.”

Tex AutomotiveOriginal Equipment Manufacturer for many smaller parts such as wing / door mirrors.
“Tex Motor Accessories have been manufactured in England since 1947. As original equipment manufacturers to companies such as Rover, MG, Triumph, Jaguar and many others over the years, Tex has established an unsurpassed reputation for quality and service. Today that quality remains evident in our Classic range of products, over 95% of which are manufactured in our factory in Oxfordshire on the original tooling.”
“Automec Equipment & Parts Limited was founded by Ray and Val Smith in 1975 initially to supply parts for British vehicles and equipment to anyone in the world that indicated a need. Now in our 40th year and managed by Ray’s son Jon, Automec continue in the same tradition with many customers, in the UK and around the world who have been with us since the beginning. We salute them and thank them for their unswerving loyalty.
In all those years the products haven’t changed much. Copper and Copper Nickel brake pipe sets, Copper and Copper Nickel piping, British made pipe flaring and bending tools, brake, fuel and clutch pipes, ABA hoseclips, pipe clips, solid brass pipe fittings and most recently (in 1982) DOT5 Silicone Brake Fluid.
Most of the founding principles will however remain the same; the best products in their market sector, at sensible prices with a prompt and efficient service. We aim to be the best that we can be so that our business continues to prosper.”
