Rover Brochure

Rover The 3-Litre Saloon, January 1959

1959 model year. 16 pages, landscape, full colour, stapled.

Rover The 3-Litre Saloon. This is one of the most luxurious brochures Rover produced for the P5. The car had only been launched the previous year, so it seems all efforts were being made to promote and sell the car. The brochure features embossing, folded-covers, full-colour printing and quality glossy paper.

The Coupe was not yet launched, so the brochure is for the Saloon only. It features a great many high-quality illustrations rather than photographs, which was quite normal for the period. Illustrations also enabled a certain ‘creative flexibility’ to make cars look sleeker and bigger than they really were. Again, not uncommon for the time. Illustrations include not only the car bodywork and interior, but the engine, subframe and suspension. Note that as this is for an early MkI car, there is no front quarter-light window.
